Old levers: Tektro Quartz ( as are the brakes )
New Levers: No name brand currently being sold by Ediscount bikes

Explaination:  In tweaking my V brakes a tried swapping the Tektro levers with the levers from the Grimeca mechanical discs on my Disco Monkey.  Major improvement!! I noticed the levers that Ediscount is selling looked almost identical to my Grimecas. For $4.99 it was worth a shot so I bought them.  The levers turned out to be almost identical and they work just as well.  They don't look very sexy, nor are they super lightweight either, but they work great.  Plus, they are very comfortable and they came with cables.

I can't tell by looking why one lever would be so much different than another in function but the difference in performace is striking.

.  Tried some new brake levers and WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!  I truely never realized what a difference the brake levers can make.   Now they stop almost as well as discs, not enough difference for my style of riding to justify switching over now.

I found out the same with mechanical disc's,my son was running Deore Disc's with Deore lever's and the performance was pretty average,I changed the lever's to mechine tech (I had these spare as I was using them with XTR V's before I upgraded to fromula B4 Disc's) and the performance improvement was amazing I wouldn't of believed it if I hadn't of tried it myself,Simon
