Here's a pic of my new bike. The new owner of the K2 came and picked it up today. That being said, I will probably not be looking at this page much anymore. I have to say, though, I like the new bike a ton better than my DM, which just seemed like a bit of a slacked out pig. Oh well!

Nice bike, Ive recently given my 955 and 855 a rest and started riding a Specialized Epic.

Unlike you however I couldn't let go of my old bikes and it looks like they will be sucking my wallet dry for a while as I try to make them reliable again.

looks good, what model year etc is that ? Did you use that description "slacked out pig" in your sales pitch? I have my eye on a rasta coloured stinky that I spotted a local guy riding one day, he has no idea what he has and I know he didn't pay a dime for it so hopefully I can persuade him to sell it cheap, only prob is that it's a bit small. I don't think I will be parting with my Evo for now unless I win the lotto. Sorry we won't be hearing from you from now on, have fun !!

"Pig" was not meant to be an insult... just a description, kinda like using a monster truck to commute on the highway. It was good bike, just not well-suited to the riding I usually do. Also, I was not very happy with the choices in rear shocks, and I wanted more tire clearance.

I had to sell the K2 to afford this.

It is a 2002 Bear, which was briefly called the Beer and is now called the Dawg. It's not stock though... basically the same build as my DM, but a different stem, seatpost, and fork. Over the winter I plan to switch it to 9-speed with the new Sram triggers and put a Romic on the back.

I'll still stop in now and again. I won't have a K2 anymore though...

you're right, my bad...I refer to my bikes more as sluts and porn objects...."slacked out pig" now i understand!

Looks like a good ride! It's all a matter of perspective: I replaced my Fuji "Mt Fugi" hardtail with an EVO 4.0 frame and am quite pleased (although the rear shock is questionable). I built it up to below 25lbs and; for the price, the K-2 seems like a bargain and will be in use for many years...

no way I would get rid of my old bike. I don't think any new rig would keep me happy all the time. If I do find such a bike that feels great! all the time then I will retire my other bikes. I don't think there is such a bike but I will keep looking for it.
