RK004 (Extrem Seals) Kit Availability
« on: July 19, 2016, 09:34:19 pm »
I can't seem to find this kit being sold in any of the usual channels (eBay, Jenson etc.). I believe I need a set for my new to me Cross-Link, so is there any way to source them and if that is no longer possible what are you using as a replacement (material and size, especially thickness). Or if an alternate kit is available.

Thanks in advance for any feedback, including pointing out if this matter has been discussed before, I could not find any reference to it.

You could just buy an RK005 Vector 2 / Girvin AL seal kit as they are essentially the same, with the exception of a tiny grub screw that fits the lube port on the X-Link pivot axle.

Vector seal kits were upgraded to "extreme" seals ages ago, so as long as you get the off white ones and not the black ones, you're good to go!

If the seals are knackered, then the bearings are likely to be on their way out too....................?

I had already ordered RK006, I was wondering about RK005 as it shows off white seals. Exactly the info I was looking for. You guys rock!

How about the RK008 rebuild kit for the frame pivot? That is another one I could not locate anywhere...

Not 100% certain, (but pretty sure....) that the bearings in a RK001 "9-style" kit are the same dimensions as the bearings in a RK008 kit.

i.e. the pivot bearings on a x57 are the same as a "two tube" or Carbon bike (x000 & x500 series)

at worst, they may be a bit "deeper" and might need "slimming" but possibly not!

Any one else?
