I didn't realise Noleen was still going and still do the Nr1,2 & 4 shocks for Proflex even the cone mounting type.
They also supply shock and fork rebuild kits even lubes probably suitable for suspension linkage.
Funny only come across the site looking at Vintage MX shocks.

Yes they've never stopped selling Nr shocks for Proflex. Very good shocks but pricey to the UK with the import duties.

Ah that's why you purchase from the states and have it sent to one of our American friends

to then have them send it onto to you

.
It saves a ton of money, parts state side are cheaper than the UK and with a favourable exchange rate its worth the effort.
As you can guess with my MX restorations I do this a hell of a lot .

Bringing this one back from the dead...my Smart Shock is in need of attention, i tried and contact NoleenJ6.com using their contact form but received no reply. Anyone aware of them still being servicing the Smart Shock or even the NR4 ?

Last time I enquired, they don't service NR-5 Smartshocks back to OEM standard, what they do is "dumb" it down to being a NR-2.

There's a German outfit offering to do them on eBay, but expensive and probably not viable for our Colonial cousins..........

Uhm, they do not ship to the US, more than expensice sound impossible! I could send the shocks next time I go to Italy but that means I would have to wait next year to ride the bike again (I go once a year to visit with parents). I did get the rebuild kit in the mail today so rebuild it myself 'could' be a possibility, but I need a few pointers on how to take the shock apart. Off course the most logic choice would be a new shock but I guess it would be worth a trying being at a loss anyway...

All I can say is my Smartshocks sucked. They failed fast and I sold them off. As far as I am concerned the smartshock technology is ass backwards.

What are the actual specs of the Noleen shocks that came stock on the Proflex/K2 bikes ? I search everywhere but I could not find a straight forward answer to this question. The goal is to determine a suitable replacement with a more modern shock. Both my shocks are shot so I can't really tell other than the fully extended length.

I've never seen any "specs" for the NR range of shocks other than their functionality:
NR-1 Pre-load only
NR-2 Pre-load and Rebound
NR-4 Pre-load, Rebound and external Compression damping
NR-5 Pre-load, Manual Rebound and "Smart" Compression damping.

Then you need to select an appropriate spring for your weight when riding. ( see table here http://idriders.com/proflex/resources/99spring_chart.pdf)

Then set the Sag which should be 20%of travel using the pre-load spring retainer threaded on the main body.

Then set the rebound and then the compression damping depending on your style of riding and terrain.

I don't know of a list of known replacements, main criteria is length and travel, but many air shocks foul the mounting points, so it's a bit trial and error or modding.

Let's start one here!

Options I know of are:

Risse
Fox RP23
Fox Float Talas (modding of lower mount point)
Manitou Swinger

would it be correct to spec both shocks at 8.5"/2.5" with different spring rates between front and rear ? The spring rates listed by the documents you mentioned would be valid with any other shock from other manufacturers?
