Take a bike maintenance class, then over time pick up the mechancal end of it. It's invaluable out on the trail.
If the tuning gets all the gears working properly, my next main concern would be some added comfort for all the rocks and roots I deal with (to avoid the headaches). I am not sure if a seat post would be a good investment for that rather than looking at the shocks. I do have the spring coils which the guy at the shop said was good to have since they didn't originally come on it.Would have to see if this would fit OK, but I imagine it will, but this product got great reviews:http://www.amazon.com/Cane-Creek-Thudbuster-Travel-Seatpost/dp/B000T3BYH6/ref=sr_1_3?s=cycling&ie=UTF8&qid=1366769790&sr=1-3&keywords=seat+postAny input on that?
