Price of forks going up.
« on: December 08, 2012, 07:02:35 pm »
It seems that in the last few months the going price of Girvin & Noleen forks of all types has gone way up. I base this only on the closing prices on Ebay in the USA. The least expensive was a Noleen with metal legs for $235 all the way up to a couple of Noleens with carbon legs that went for $530 and $599. Even some Girvins in the mid 200's.  Wish I had bought more a few years ago when they were in the $100 range. I don't see any more of them on the trail so where are they going?

I have posted photos in the past where the forks have been used on other styles of bikes from BMX to cruiser. Is this drawing down the market so as to drive up the price?

I enjoy being different so I will most likely keep them on my bikes as I don't ride near as hard as I used to.

I agree with you from a UK perspective, I have been keeping my eyes open for a set of Vector's to put on my 962 and from memory was expecting to pay about £40 - £50 P&P included, but the few that have popped up have gone for considerably more than that.
Maybe the BNIB Carbon Crosslink CS PRO's that I bought some years ago from the US have appreciated in value.....................?

It is inevitable that the price will go up over time, since there are no supplies of new parts. Eventually all functioning Pro-Flex frames will have to use telescoping forks, because that's the design the market continues to support. It's really not a trade-off, though, because they're SO much better than they were in 1996.

Yes, prices are going up for the Noleens and especially for the Fournales fork.
Even when a Hurricat Vorace appears on sale, goes cheaper than these ones...

Just a little joke as I know you don't like Vectors/crosslinks or Spinergys.

one of these days, I'll replace the marzocchi xc300 fork I originally installed on my 854 when I built it, with a Girvin vector that was originally spec'd for the frame...I missed out on many bids over the years @ fleabay or they were higher than I was willing to pay...
