Bidding with more than 10 seconds to spare is a fool's errand. Bid once, stake your claim, and then wait patiently until the moment is right to strike before anyone can react.

I second that, and will be using said tactics when I bid on this auction :-) If anyone on the list beats me to it and is more interested in the goodies than the frame drop me a PM. I have lotsa goodies, especially vintage and CNC'd stuff, plus cash. I really really only need the main frame, but of course am interested enough in the whole bike. I still have a 957 fork and rear end awaiting a main triangle, and Large is the needed size.

My primary interest would be in the fork, so if we can swing a deal on the fork I will hold off bidding.

They always do. I think I've bid on two auctions since eBay first opened that didn't skyrocket (relative to the initial bid) in the last 5 minutes.

With 3 days left in the bidding it may go higher than what I just paid for my AMP B5.

It's bare aluminum and bare carbon. That means any surface blemishes can be fixed with emory paper and clear nail polish. I'd pay a bunch for it too, if it were my size and I didn't already own three of the same thing in a different color.

shill bidding. where the seller either himself with another ebay account or one of his mates adds small increments to bump the price up while still staying below the max set by the first real bidder. Risky as you may actually go above their max, but there's ways of knowing when you are approaching their max. Often if the shill bidder goes above the max of the real bidder, you'll find the real bidder gets a second chance offer as strangley the supposed winner 'doesn't pay' (not surprising when they aren't genuine).

One bidder's made 31 bids!

Shill bidding happens all the time - I have complained to ebay twice & guess what?.......They are not interested because it also inflates their fees

you really think it's shill bidding?  That bike is mint, I bet there are more than a few **** out there who would love a 957, myself included.  I'll be interested to see what it goes for, but I'm looking at one that's closer to home.
