Proflex shop manual
« on: December 06, 2009, 08:16:51 am »
There is one on ebay at the moment. I have already bid on it. Here's the deal. I work for Xerox and can take this and make reprints and probably CD's also of the file. So if anybody here was thinking of bidding on it, I can send you a copy or CD for postage if you don't bid against me. Wish me luck and I can share this with everybody else.

I don't need a copy but will be interested to see the level of detail in it. Do you know what year it is from? I have a 1995 owners manual at home I could scan.

I did win the manual. It will probably be early next year, after the holiday silly days, when I get a chance to scan and print out some. When I have that done I will post up to see who would like what.

Well Done!
It's a real shame that someone bid against you.

If you can, it'd be great to scan the whole thing and post the pages on here in your Gallery?
You can create a sub directory off your gallery with everything in it.
(I've done that with the RK kit info that I have gathered.)

Do they have info on the ProFlex 5000 model?  If so I'm interested in a copy.

Thanks!

From the contents page in the ad, it does look to be from 1997. I have not received it yet.

Got the book in. WOW. Very detailed technical drawings for all their products from 1993 thru 1996, with an extra insert for 1997. About the only service info is about install/service for the Vector/Girvin linkage forks. About 2" thick as it is all printed on thick glossy cardstock. After seeing how thick it is, it may better to just offer it up as a CD and post it online.

I've got one the tech manuals up until 1998 (includes some k2/proflex bikes.  If you want to email me and we'll compare notes to see if I have anything you haven't.  I'm happy to send you them for your project so long as I get them back.

I'm sure the k2 folks won't mind us doing this (copyright issues etc).  I'm happy to chat to them if anything crops up.

Is there any way to explain the seeming total absence of any tech info regarding set-up and maintenance specific and contemporary to the original black, steel stemmed Girvin Vector (1) fork? I've located one dedicated magazine article, but even that one, which was surely a multi-page document, has only the first page posted and ends in the middle of a sentence...! Aside from that, no assembly, parts lists, service procedures, etc. Even the K-2 seal kit(s) I just got were missing the O-rings from both kits and some metal shims from one of them. Is this concept of missing data and stuff a plot...just my imagination?...with the limited life-span of the original MCU's to top it all off, I feel like my fork and I are cast in the movie "Blade Runner II / The Great Vector DNA Wars"...
