EVO BB size
« on: October 15, 2009, 01:27:35 am »
hey guys, i'm in need of a little bit of help.

I'm rebuilding my evo 3.0 frame, but i've gone and lost the original Bottom bracket.

It needs to be square taper, to fit a set of raceface cranks. Does anybody know the axle length required for it, or a method of finding out, other than trial and error?

Cheers, Scott.

Colin

My 4000se BB is a Shimano UN72 113 x 73 and I see no reaosn for an Evo to be any different as standard.
But I believe that BB width can be affected by the crank that you fit..............
so you may need something specifically to fit the RaceFace set.

But I have replaced the original cranks on the 4000se with FSA Carbon ones and the BB stayed the same.

Cheers Colin,

i managed to find an evo for sale on craigslist after posting here, where the seller listed the BB as 113mm as well.

I've got one of those at the shop i work in, so i'll give er a try tomorrow.

Thanks!
Scott.

No good to you now, but for the future I keep all my old BBs of differing length axles then when it comes to sizing I pop each in in turn until one fits then buy a new one in that size ;)
