Common Fracture/Dent sites on ProFlex 1996 models
« on: October 13, 2009, 07:48:16 pm »
Hey all, got a buddy that just got a 756 from an individual that described himself as "a down hill rider at heart." Where are places that should be looked at for fractures/dents on a bike that may have been beat up on? Also what would be of major and minor concern?

Rather than us doing extensive repeat replies on this, maybe your Buddy should do his own research and have a good look through previous posts on here and he will gain a lot of info.

yes, he should do his own close examination - head tube joints, down tube, bottom bracket joints - swingarm etc.

OP
Yeah, they don't make 'em anymore - it's a classic - - -

Right on. Sorry don't mean to waist time. Didn't realize this is a repeat post. You could probably remove this post then. 8)

What we mean is he should join up so we can participate.

BUUUUTTT, he should check out the swingarm mount and the swingarm. All else will present itself in due time. ;)

Well I am the chap that bought the 756 off of ebay and am thankful to already find a forum dedicated to my new bike (and thankful that my buddy vblackett forwarded the link to me of the ebay auction). All together with shipping and actual purchase of bike totaled to 480 bucks with the only thing needed to be done being a new tube for my front tire. No dents in the frame, after market parts, and professionally maintained through the years (at least what the seller stated).
I will put more details and pic of it when I get it cleaned up a bit (da*m stickers) but I am exstatic about this purchase and ready to start biking again after many years of being away (especially with one of the best mountain bikes to come out in the last 15-20 years).
Back to work and thanks ahead of time for the information I will learn about the bike off of this forum.
