Help me! I have recently purchased a LTK kit (The last one produced by Rapid Descent) and in mounting it on my 855 for testing purposes I noticed that the top of the shock body (it is still the original Pro Flex shock) hits the bottom of the seat tube long before reaching the travel limit. I do have a Risse Genesis on the way to use and that raises the question of whether or not I will encounter the same problem using the Genesis?

The very obvious solution is to cut the bottom of the seat tube of flat, but the question is is there a better and more elegant solution?

The blue bike is mine. I have been told that the kit I have is not an LTK kit but a similar one from Canada. Not had any time to play with it yet though.

Here is a closer look at my issue, keep in mind that the original shock is going to be replaced:

If you look closely at the first and second pictures you can see where I put a dab of grease and then compressed the suspension which left a spot of grease on the bottom of the seat tube. I am perplexed.

BTW, the 854 which can barely be seen will soon be for sale as a frameset only. It is in primo condition excepting the elastomers of course.

I haven't yet as I was kind of hoping that he would check in here first. Just lazy on my part I guess.

Best way to contact him is via the forum on his website. I think he may check that more often than his emails/PMs etc.

Me thinks you have no options here other than to carve a slight radius on the seatmast to cradle the shock. That is what I would do.

Or sell the kit to me.

Callum could probably advise better.

Yeah, I was thinking that modifying the seattube was about the only choice I might have. Hoping that Callum will have a better idea though since the seattubes in all other pictures are not modified.

Makes me wonder if the kit was the 97/98 kit rather than the 95/96.

crikey - I didn't even have that leaflet !!!
those zeberdee springs were laugh a minute. turned the hi-5 and the chubbies into usable forks. excpet that you couldn't run disk brakes because they made the legs too fat!!
