Disc Brake Adapters for a x55 frame.

I was considering getting a x56HH hammerhead adapter one of my frames before I realised that the adapters had been discontinued.
The only other option I can see is to go to these guys
Grip Sport
(and a few
pics of their work
) to have an adapter welded onto the frame. I'm already getting my rear shock adapter modified by them, but the hammerhead looked like a cheaper and less permanent solution.
Does anyone know of any other solutions out there for running discs on the x56 frame? I've got all the parts ready to go, just need the frame to be made disc ready.

a bit of history might help make a decision - one of the core differences between the 855 and the 856 was a serious of 'bug fixes' in the frame where many 855 customers had experienced cracks in the light weight frame. The 856 had a much stronger - but visually similar frame. One of the weak spots in the 855 series frameset is the swingarm. A disk brake adapter puts an enormous amount of load on a small section of the swingarm and coupled with known weaknesses in the 855 swingarm - it could be a risky upgrade. e.g. Even through the X56HH would fit the 855, I never would sell them to 855 owners.
If you are going to manufacture a diskbrake adapter - then try and make sure it spreads the load as far as you can. I wouldn't copy our design because the load is fixed to the dropout (which is just a weld in unit and liable to break off). I would definitely consider a weld option and not a bolt-on option.
and remember:
If you have any strange creaks in the frame then consider very carefully what you are doing. If you don't have any creaks in an 855 frame then something is very very wrong!!!

I suspect both my 855 and 955 were late season bikes in a transition to the 856 as they actually have the 856 strut set up.
The 955 definitely has the creaks, always did funny I thought it came from the cranks, but the 855 is silent. Its the 855 I want to put the discs on because I want the 955 as close to standard as possible (except for the shock).
