LOL! :-)

I think this  guy had a nervous twitch and accidentally put one too many zeros in the price of his bike:

"I will no entertain the idea of putting this bike in the hands of an inexperienced rider"

Define inexperienced rider please? (I've been riding 33+ years but know guys riding less than 10 years who can smoke me)

and...

Girving Oil Dampening with Elastomers

WTF? I owned an elastomer 856 - I wasnt aware "oil dampening" was part of my suspension system? (correct me if I'm wrong)

(Girving? damn, I thought I was bad...lol)

PROFLEX 856 World Cup Design - $1500

World Cup? Erm...nice reflectors dude, are they included with your world cup $1500 price?  ::)

That guy bumped his head - and for an elastomer spec'ed 856 no less - that bike is worth 500.00 (give or take a few bucks - and assuming its near flawless).

I'm being generous.

I know...I picked up my complete 856 frame for $50. I also snagged a nearly unused 856 for $275, and that price included an awesome Specialized pump, a CatEye computer and new set of kevlar-beaded WTB Velociraptors. Even my 4000 was less than a third of what he's asking. Maybe  I should flag the post for removal, hehehehe ;-)

Me too! I picked up an 856 to transfer the parts to a 956 frame for $275.

I believe it in fact does have oil damped elastomer shocks, called the ODS (oil dampened shock).

Oh well, caveat emptor. Can't blame the lad for trying but craigslist has a generally pretty savvy bike crew about it and for that money you can of course pick up something a lot more modern.

I'll pass but think of him at doing his bit to keep my assets inflated, if I sell my proflex I'll show'em his ad.  ;D

Not sure I get much of the latest UK slang on knackered toppy bits and the like... but that's an awfully optimistic price. My two 856's came in for $200 and, um, actually free... Ironically the free one was REALLY nice, too.

At least you can take the seat off that bike and make a king size matress out of it.
