My 1996 856

Got it off ebay 375.00

Its believed to be all original, even the tires, and its like new - only one scratch under the top-tube you cant even see. Whoever the previous owner was hardly rode it and must have kept garaged. I've been told in this forum this might be a somewhat rare or special Proflex as of this bike wasnt originally spec'ed with an ODS and GDT shocks.

Bargain! it looks very clean
it's probably one of the last ones sold they did upgrades on the later ones, the shocks and springs are the same as those that came fitted to my 97 Beast GDT, that was an x56 model sold new in 97, my GDT shock only lasted 5 years though.

Thanks alot, very much appreciated...yeah, its VERY clean, you would be hard pressed to find a Proflex in this pristine condition...hell, even the chainrings show close to no wear. I'm wondering if it might have even been a floor demo (I did get it from a bikeshop selling it on ebay), its litterally in that good of shape.

I remember when I first saw a beast I thought it was one of the beefyest looks bikes I ever seen (for an XC anyway)

That bike takes the cake though - looks like a highly modern updated beast.

Yep shes been broken in on the XC circuits round oxfordshire, rides great, really does pay to spend a little if ya can, the gear setup is sram x-o throughout bar theXT front mech and and FSA chainset really smooth shifting, The best move I made was adapting the 4way swinger to fit snug into place, now the back end is a perfect ride and very plush.

Havent weighed her in yet but i think it gonna be a respectable figure when i finally do.

There are very few thing that i might do,swaping out the smart shock up front for a genesis is a possibility its just a little soft upfront for me im 190lbs, not sure what the spring is on the front but the shock is brand new straight out the box but still seems to soft so a genisis might be the key also to shed those vital lbs get a Ti spring on the rear.

Oh and before anyone mentions it I have some SPDs to fit im finally gonna make the transition over to them in the new year!

That really is nice. Thats the only proflex frame that I want as much as the 955.

Sadly they never come up for sale over here.

Yours looks sweet though. Enjoy making it dirty.

mmmm yes so I hear, lets hope and pray that what ever hes upto is a sucssess and its what we all anticipate. God It almost as exciting as an Apple Expo, whats gonna be relaeased?
