Shimano made an STX-RC model in 8speed 11-34, back in the 90s.

Action Tec, and Cycle Dynamics make a 34 up to 38 cogset. You could buy just a 34 or bigger, and remove a cog from your existing set, you have it. You will have have to machine a tad off your carrier if you are using that type. Any machine shop can chuck in a lathe and trim off.

What cogset are you now running?

My wife's 957 has the big jump on the 34th cog. It shifts just fine.

I run a Shimano HG40 "Megarange" 11-34 8 Speed on my 4000se. (22/34/44 on front).

That's pretty low end Shimano kit, "Acera" I think, and I was a bit loath to put one on my XT spec'd bike, but it has always worked well and changed quickly (even the last "big" jump) and wore very well as well, and finally, they're very cheap! (£13!)

I guess I'd probably not notice the difference using a 11-32 HG50 STX-RC cassette, so maybe I'll try one of them next.

Wow, 28 tooth. I would die pushing that one. Why not a 32 tooth. There are tons of SRAM ones cheap.
