I am new to this site, and I apoligize ifthis post has been covered in earlier post. I have a 2000 Evo 4 and I am thrilled to have found this group.
I am in the process of totally rebuilding my frame for the second time, and I need to find the rebuild kit for the pivot. I notified K2, and they stated they no longer have the kits in stock. Are the needle bearings a common size that I could purchase after market? In addition, how can the end play be adjusted without the plastic end play tool that used to come with the EVO's. (According to the K2 site)... Your input is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply- I spoke with Iron Horse and they stated they have no more kits in stock, and there are no more plans for making more, although the RK012 kit is was their most popular pivot kit. I think I'll be soaking the bearings in WD 40.

someone ma have one....thats bad new s though,its only a matter of time before all the other kits are gone too

Search the forum,a member Simon did a bearing conversion on an 856 I think,principle should be the same...In fact i think the disco monke the last vverion(or one of the last) of the evo frame had a different sstem..maybe they still have them..?One of the "Evo" guys will respond I am Sure!

I found a reply to a post by iliv2k2 that explained part #'s and technical procedures for replacing the bearings. I ordered 4 bearings this evening.
Please see Iliv2k2's message below. iliv2k2... thank you for the info.

"I have the same frame and I've done the changed out the bearings twice. It's so much fun.

The bearings are Torrington #B1010

And here's how I removed them the last time I did it.

Items:
All thread rod
2 nuts
2 washers
A long socket of similar diameter that allow the all thread to pass through
A PVC Coupling w/inner diameter larger than the bearing

1. Slowly tighten until the bearing on the PVC side pops out
2. Disassemble and remove bearing and spacer
3. Reassemble to remove the final bearing.
4. Grease the new bearings and I'm sure you figure out the rest.

anybody know where to get these torrington bearings from? i've been looking around online, but i cant really find anything.

I got my torrington bearings from Baum Hydraulics ( Check online) I think it was $24 for four bearings with shipping. Swapping out the bearings was pretty slick using he threaded rod/socket method.

these the ones you mean? The problem is (and i'm almost ashamed to admit) I'm a child of the metric system, and i have no idea how to measure bearings in imperial sizes.

Are they the right size? if so, i now know what i'm looking for, and might be able to find them in the UK and save myself some time and hassle.

Those are the correct bearings.

They fit my 2000 K2 EVO 4.0 with the carbon swingarm.

Are you saying that you fitted needle bearings in your carbon swingarm

That's a new one on me.

Now you mount your swingarm, and it is a carbon swingarm? I have never seen a carbon swingarm mounted on a needle bearing frame.

The swing arm is carbon- I had the impression, all evo 4.0 w/ the carbon swingarm had needle bearing frames.

To my knowledge, all carbon swingarms were only fitted with bushings. But this could be different. I thought that only the alum swingarms were mounted to needle bearing frames. I know there is some kind of spacer in my alum swingarm that may also work for the carbon swingarm. That may be it .

Interesting post. My carbon swing arm does have an aluminum spacers where the pivot rod goes through. Appreciate the input and knowledge you all have pertaining to these frames.
