rear fournales shock ..

  hi all . I m a french newbie on this forum .  
I bought recently a 857 ( 957?) frame with rear fournales air shock . never seen it on this forum .
and recently open it :35ml of SAE10 fork oil .

wow - that's a bit different. Does the shock work well?

 yes . working well  , but need to adjust air pressure ( 12 bar for my 80kg weight ..)
never opened since 1997 I think ,oil were very dirty ..
i need to re-open it to re-change oil . I'll post photos.
 it's bigger , but very similar to front look-fournales fork shock.

Has it been modified to fit the 957 strut end bolt and tapered collet?

Or maybe it has an end bolt as the front Fournales shock has?

yes , there is a tapered collet at bottom shock. and normal M6 axe on other side .

due to the cone , you confirm me it' 957 frame?
857 has other fixation ?

Wonderful bike Lurch! That shock is unique, I have never seen that before.

If the frame is painted it is an 857. If it is polished aluminum, it is 957. Same frame though, we call it x57 series.

Again, nice bike. You lucky guy.

i thought the 957 was the same frame but made of different mayerial and or welded up in the USA intead of Taiwan?

frame has been hand painted in grey. so i don't know 857 or 957 . don't matter...

I' ll make an adaptor to try another classic rear shock to see difference with Fournales one.

Hmmm, I think you are right, 957 welded in US of Easton tube. 857 welded in Taiwan of standard 7005. Basically the same geometry though.

957 has the Easton logo embossed in seat tube and top tube.

Yes, only one cable guide. I think the sticker is not original.

Anyway, I think this bike is an 857, but no matter, that shock is awesome. Never seen it before.

it is hard to spot the embossed Easton logo especially under a layer of paint. I only noticed it on my Expert Series Beast after I'd stripped the paint off. It's an E in a diamond near the head tube and I think at the top of the seat tube.
