Hi folks!

just crashed today.
looks like I broke a rib and definitely my swingarm.

can it be repaired? Can it be welded?

It is a 2001 K2 Disco Monkey as far as I know.

And if not, how do I get a new swingarm.
I'm from Germany that might double the porblem, as K2 has no actual importer to Germany.

So sorry to hear about the crash. I suffered a broken rib a couple of summers ago. Not fun!

As far as the swingarm, It could be repaired, but not without some effort. Retaining the bore is a bit tricky.

Last year when I ordered from Iron Horse, they said that all carbon swingarms were sold, but they had aluminum Evo swingarms going for $75 each. They may still have them, and the exchange rate is in your favor.

Is the EVO Swingarm the same as on the Disco Monkey?
That's the difference between Evos and all of those Monkeys? (Flyin Mokey, Disco Monkey, Brass Monkey ...)
If it is the same I'd buy one from Iron Horse. It's the fastest solution.

@Simon: Here at work I got skilled aluminum welders (Eurofighters sometimes need to be welded, he he) ... would you think they can do it?
How would you repair it?

I even thought about getting the whole forging replaced by a cnc milled part. But getting it welded should mean less work.

If they couldn't repair it I'd be very worried.
Yes I'd go for the repair option and you are very lucky
because those welders should be some of the best
around.
I would have the welders repair it ,I'd let them do whatever they thought was the best way as they are
the experts.Afterwards I'd clean up any excess weld that may of appeared on inside of the clamp area with a small file or better still have it machined.
Sounds to me you have all the expertise  you need where you work, you are very lucky.

It's welded! Just got it back. And it's stiffer now as the welder implanted two new gussets!
I still have to mill the bearing case but it looks great and will last for a very long time, I hope!

I'll take pictures and up 'em here.

now I still have to mill it, strip it totally and paint it again.
Or better powdercoat it.
Question:
Is it possible to powdercoat it in matt black?
Would fit best to my Junior T fork.

Actually looks very trick! Did the weld penetrate the crack? That could be a weak spot.

As far as the Powdercoat, you are not requiered to strip it all off. Degrease thoroughly, and rub down and blend with a scotchbrite pad. The new coat should bond right to the old layer. Have done it many times myself.

stripping goes pretty fast when using a sandblaster
