Typing the keyword DISC in the search function didn't net me the info I'm looking for. I got things like, DISCo monkey, DISContinued, DISCovered, etc. absolutely nada on DISC brakes. Typing BRAKES didn't get me what I wanted either.

Is the search function hooped? Clicking on HELP I got a, "Hacked by Lejoiner" page. Is that why I'm having issues? I belong to many other forums, so I know how to use search functions.

This FAQ post is what I've found thus far;

The provided links seem dead.

I checked out the files to see what I could muster up.
i didn't see any write ups for rear disc conversions, but saw a number of pics. Most though, save for two, regard the CF swingarm and not the GDS aluminium as my 855 has. Here's the link to the pics I speak of;

The above pic looks to be somewhat correct, but the dropout area looks a slight bit different that mine.

Is this one on the yellow swingarm the Hammerhead adaptor bracket?

On both of these it looks to mount with screws/bolts on the dropout area via the provided fender/rack eyelet and a drilled hole for the mount directly above it.

What about this;

Is this for the CF's or the aluminium GDS's?

Try "DISK" which is how most of us Yanks spell it these days.

If you've got an aluminum swing arm... Got a few pix on my gallery pages... "will" and "willem"
I recommend making a template, cutting it out of 1/4" (or so) aluminum and then getting it welded on.

You can actually mount the brake and clamp it down to fixture it for welding.

i bought one of those adaptors to fit to my xpx unfortunately it didnt fit too well and ended up on a canondale, it could possibly fit but it needs quite a lot of fettling (grinding) on the dropout (it needs to be flat) and i didnt want to risk it too much.

That looks looks like factory OEM. Nicer welds than I've seen on some production bikes.

You're right. That most certainly would be the best way. However, many of us, myself included, don't have the where withall or facilities to perform such mods. At least an apartment dweller such as I anyways.

Simon's disc conversions are pretty extraordinary.

If you want to see something a little more "achievable" check my galleries at "will" and "willem" for some snaps of two other examples. One is welded and one is bolted and epoxied.

Both have lasted for > 2 years with some heavy braking. The epoxy one has even survived several days of chairlift descending.

idea's out there,as you can see I've made a couple
of bolt on versions,all made with hand tools and a couple of hours effort and your done,

hey wow - what a provenance! I contacted Josh at Risse for a price of a service as it's starting to leak oil and the shaft is a bit worn - he quoted $93 or ~£48 including shaft, and a change from eyelet to cone for free and return to UK.

I haven't done it yet, but plan to maybe over the winter.

I love it when something has a bit of history!

I have to agree, I think it's the best shock I've ever used.
