Proflex K2 5000/4000's

Have you guys ever noticed how few medium Proflex/ K2 5000 frames or bikes come up for sale anywhere?  I have always owned the Oz version--most certainly an awesome bike.  I have never had one of the aluminum versions.  Being so old I expected to see more of them entering the used market,  but I guess perfection is hard to beat.   I love the look of those machines.

You know, you are right. I have a 4000 large and and my buddy has a 4000 Way big. Never seen a medium.

Man, I must be blind.  I am seeing only larges.  My wife is probably hypnotzing me at night.  "You will ONLY see large frames....Large frames...."  There is a guy selling a 5000 on craigslist Bay Area, but his price is a bit wack.  $650

is that the guy in reno? I'd offer $350 and see what he counters. if it's what u-r looking for.....don't worry about spending a few more dollars to get it (IMHO)

The Reno guy is the one.  I'll give it try.  A lot of people don't seem to understand the idea of bike depreciation.  Some of the prices I have seen for old used up %#@ are a real joke.  Many people are folliowing ebay's advice by stating the msrp.  Who cares what it cost in 1996.  That was then and this is now.  If nobody bites, lower the price as much as it takes or it becomes an heirloom.

Hey folks:

It's all my fault - I bought THE medium-framed 4000. It's down here in New Zealand, but I'm not interested in parting with it - sorry.

When I bought mine in mid-1998, it was one of the last medium-framed 4000's in the country. The sales chap one of the local bike shops spent half an hour attempting to persuade me that 'way big' was the perfect size for my 5'11' / short-legged body. Guess why this shop is no longer in business...

I've only ever seen one other 4000 on the trails, and I never even asked the guy what size it was!

For those who can't read french it's a medium 4000, good condition except for a small bump underneath which doesn't affect the rigidty of the frame. Will deliver worldwide.

Yeh, I saw that French one, I assume that's a disk brake adaptor on the rear end? I've never seen one like that before but it makes a lot of sense (maybe)?

a Medium OzM

But I think the frame length is a bit longer on the 5500 than the Oz's so maybe the 5500 is a Large, I'm not sure......

Wow, that is a lot of mediums!

That disc adapter looks to be a post mount. Kind of cool.
