Sorry O/T but just had to share
« on: June 17, 2006, 10:06:32 pm »
I know we've been getting a load of crap on this site
and this is O/T but were else can I share  ???

Saturday took the family to Hyde park (London)
for an open air concert,85,000 of us,
weather was fantastic and what a day,
firstly it was the Queens birthday so we got to see
a fly past of the Battle of Britain flight, Lancaster flanked by 2 Spitfires & 2 Hurricans, then various military planes all followed up by the Red Arrows display team,

then there's the concert
firstly Juliet and the Licks who were Okay,
then Angels and Airwaves (Tom Delonge, ex Blink 182 his new band),
suprisingly very good,
then it got serious,

Queens of the Stone age,Superb very talented bunch,

Then
Motorhead,absolutaly amazing,he's supposed to be 60,
my 12 year old daughter loved them, got to get her a T shirt now,
always wanted to see them and they didn't disappoint,

Then the main event
Foo Fighters, what can I say Dave Grohl and his Guys
put on Hell of a Show, amazing set and and from what
you hear about him what a great guy, really put on a
show,
and thats not all he brought back on Lemmy from
Motorhead to sing a song they had done together
as a Probot project,
but to top it all in the encore
Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighter drummer) came on to
to sing a tribute to Freddie Mercury (Queen)and what happened,
Roger Taylor (Queen) took to the stage on drums
and Brian May (Queen) lead guitar along side the Foo's
and we were treated to a version of Tie your mother
down, what an end.

sorry to bore you with this  :-[but what a day :P.
didn't get home till 1.30am  ;D.

How excellently cool!
I watched the Trooping of the Colour and the flypast on the telly and I wished I'd been there for them both.
A good few years back I went down for the 60th anniversary of the BofB and the flypast was stunning.
Lanc, 9 Spits, Jaguars, Harriers, Tornados, Hawks, and a Concorde.
It's just a shame we have such a poor variety of modern miltary hardware these days. Only the Canberra, VC-10 and the Hawks were British! (and the Canberra goes OOS this year!)

The TV shots from within the Lanc, looking left and right at the Spits and Hurri's over Central London was fantastic. Which Arm I'd have given to be in there!

I thought about getting Foofighter tickets, but as we're going down for Roger Waters in two weeks I thought I'd give it a miss, sounds like it was a stunner!

Glad you had a good 'un, I wish I was there............

(Dark Side of the Moon in two weeks............<GRIN>)

Flypast would have been better with the helicopters we have joining in too, or is it just me coz I work with them.
K2 carbon, XTR mechs, XT v-brakes, Mavi cross ride wheels, XT chainset and lovely Pace RC38LTs.
Custom built Cougar, Ultegra allover for those roadie days

That may be O/T, but nearly everyone here is green with envy.

One of my top 5 concerts was at Hempstead Heath (just north of London) for one of your July holidays.
We just pretended it was the 4th of July (Y'know when those #@$% colonies declared independence) and enjoyed the fireworks!
I suppose the music was a bit more staid, but it was a great show.
Brits definitiely know how to throw a party in the park.

Flypast = Planes (‘cos planes fly and helicopters are buses with fans on top!)

<Grin> only kiddin', I think we've got a few Lynx's left but not much else that's pure British!

The flypast was done by the RAF so it could have had: Chinook, seaking, merlin(EH101),puma but not the lynx due to it being an army and navy aircraft.  They would have shaken up the old palace too.
