Fitting carbon fibre swingarm to Beast
« on: February 16, 2006, 03:55:26 am »
Can I fit the carbon fibre swingarm I bought off Ebay to my '96 Beast (with the red ally swingarm)? They seem to have the same pivots? Waiting for it to arrive from the States.

I did buy the swingarm as a spare for my 857, but might as well use it on the Beast if I can!!

No,the 96 worldcup frame has a pivot point behind
the B/B the 97 worldcup frame has the pivot point forward of the B/B.

Mine must be a different year Beast then (I'm not sure) - it has the pivot in front of the BB just like my 857. I think it will fit, it looks the same.

There are different models that were labeled as "Beast." If it looks the same side by side, it more than likely is.
K2 5000 Large w/Avid discs, Bontrager Race Disc Modified wheels, Manitou Minute, Swinger 3-way
K2 5000 Med ("wife's") w/Avid V's, Mavic CrossLink wheels, Manitou X-vert, Risse Astro-5

Like this one, right?

Except this is an Animal...............

I thought they were later than '96, more like '97?

Also sold as a 757..........

The Frame is the same part number as an 857 and 957.

That's the one. Given instructions apply to all 3 models I'm hoping my conversion will be ok.

Will get some pix up soon.

There were a lot of bikes that we affectionately called the Twilight zone bikes...   mostly the 96-97 crossover bikes..   beasts and animals...  anyways, yours looks like it will workk fine with the 97 carbon swingarm...

Take it easy,
