Your Christmas present for yourself was....
« on: December 23, 2005, 04:08:32 am »
Well, for me it's a two-part'er.

Part one resides beside me - a 2001 Noleen Mega Air for. Used, no stickers, already VTO'd to 100 mm (has original spacer's) and came with the brake post's, too. E-Bay'd for $138 and it's really in great shape. This will be the fork to go with my new (used) frame, which is ......

...... Part two will be revealed on Monday if everything goes smoothly at the border. ;)

So, you bought ...... ?

Good for you Andrew, a GREEN CARD. With that everything will go well at the border. [smiley=laughing.gif]

You lucky dog, you got ona them Mega Airs.

What? You say no Green Card. Oh well you don't need those anymore anyway. Just don a raincoat and run like hell. Just write your name on all your stuff, and you get to keep on your free ride back across the border. [smiley=nod.gif]

Mine, it has something with the letters TIT in it.

Well, I'm going cheap this year...

Bought a Bontrager Race front wheel (non disc for my single speed) for $2 on Ebay ("true with smooth hubs").

Just bought a brand new set of 2.2" Specialized Enduro tires for the same bike for $15 (free shipping). I'm hoping to get a little softer ride than I've been getting with semi-slicks...

Now, if only Santa would bring me a new REAR wheel for said bike (and heck, while he's at it, I'd like a lighter frame!)
K2 5000 Large w/Avid discs, Bontrager Race Disc Modified wheels, Manitou Minute, Swinger 3-way
K2 5000 Med ("wife's") w/Avid V's, Mavic CrossLink wheels, Manitou X-vert, Risse Astro-5

My feet love me.  I picked up a pair of Lake MXZ 301s.  80 bucks lower than the MSRP, even. [smiley=nod.gif]   I like to hike-a-bike and plow through snow drifts, etc.  Yeah, I end up walking a bit.  The shoes are great.  Metal tipped toe cleats help on the ice too.   The Oz likes snow too.

Had: 953, 756
Have:
855 cracked frame
5000
Oz
Evo frame

Introducing Part 2....

Don't worry - Frank will most certainly be seeing PLENTY of action even though this bike is here.

Weight as shown is 25.3 pounds. That'll start coming down quickly enough.

Very nice, like the colour reminds me of my old 853,

let me know how it rides as I've not ridden
a full susser that runs with no sag like the NRS.

those forks would look great the same colour as the frame  ;)

Hey, COOL! Another Torontonian! Welcome!!!!! Where you at?

Congrats on the steel-impregnated rubber. ;) I'm sure you need it on the Don. [smiley=laughing.gif] Post up and introduce yourself.

Terry - HAHAHAHAHA! Yyyyyyyup. New wheels and brakes are being looked into. That should kill off another pound-and-a-half. ;) No, i'm not waiting untill Christmas next year. Hmmm, maybe i'll have to buy a Valentine's Day gift because I love her. [smiley=laughing.gif]

What about YOU? Your hint left a LOT to the imagination (TIT). Was that abbr'v for ti, or were you getting a pair? :o

You got it Andrew. I do get the same pair wrapped in the same package every year.  ;)

But what I got for myself this year was a project crankset. It is a rare pair of Morati titanium crankarms. I scored some RaceFace chainrings, and am in the process of trying to score a square taper Ti BB.

The driveside crankarm had 2 cracks in it. I actually purged and welded them yesterday(6AL4V). The 5 bolt inner chainring needed 4 spacers, so I turned them out of stainless and welded them to the stainless inner for rigidity. Then I shaved the dickens out out of it to lighten it up. I just have to find some 16 mm chainring bolts and I can mount up to the 957.

I also got a Wicked Sisters brake cable pulley that is half the weight of my Travel Agent.

Another cool present is the cartridge bearing upgrades that Simon did for me, and Will graciously escorted them to England. Thanks guys!
