upon spying one of the above [on a bike rack] yesterday, i started wondering just what the owners of these fine looking beasts actually think of them?
i've got a 957, but i have to say after seeing one of the carbon models i'm pretty keen on perhaps looking at aquiring one at some stage [depending on people's opinions of course].
which leads me to my next question... where would i find one [just the frame preferably] in the medium size? and what sort of money would they fetch these days?

I've got one and well it's a lifetime unit (unless you decide to go with 4 bar linkage).

Go read the posts for the 5500c and Oz M on mtbr.com never seen such positive unanimous review (apart from one plonker).

Nearly every week on my local trials a youth walker will say 'wow nice bike'. Bedsides looks the frame is bomb proof and you won't hear any tinny creaking that you can get from streesed alloy frames.

I'm sure since this new forum recently started someone either had for sale or had seen for sale a medium one. Go back and look.

I have a '98 5500C. Best crosscountry bike I've ever ridden, IMHO. I ride aggressively, bumping over rocks and roots, and dropping over our modest 2+ foot ledges. The carbon frame has shown absolutely no signs of stress. It rides much smoother than any of my friends aluminum frames. The freeriders and downhillers can tell you more about the bigger hits, but, for the trails I have available, there is no bike more durable.

Best all around bike I've ridden in terms of durability, suspension & of course the cool factor!!!. You can't go wrong, that is of course if you can find one!!!

Southern kiwi..I have never seen an oz or 5500 or 4500 ever!!!!.Beware of freight if bringing in a frame.If you can get the package small enough us postal will get it here in 6 8 weeks for about us 35

if it is, could you do me a wee favour? take a couple of measurements for me, top tube length, bb height, top tube to bb etc...
just so i can compare it to my 957

I'd be happy to take the measurements, if you still need it?

I upgraded from a 756 (heavily modified) to my 5500c and am loving every time I ride it. It is simply awesome. I'm currently undergoing a bit of a refreshening of the parts, you can check out some of them in my gallery.

I think the looks of the carbon frame adds to its beauty, much like your swingarm does for yours, but moreso.

hey Scott - thanks 4 that link, i'd actually already come across it, i'm just after the frame tho - not the whole bike.
a] a frame won't cost as much, & b] as Kiwi pointed out, the shipping will b expensive [especially so 4 a whole bike].
but thanks 4 the heads up, i'll keep looking
