HAHAHA! Yeah, that's ride height. It's a full 350mm post, too. Right up to the "min insert" marker and all! :o Hey, 36" inseam. (shrug) You do what you gotta.

Shooting for the 26.something-pound range for the first ride next year. Just bought some RF Turbine LP crank arms NIB. Respectable light, strong and very sexy! New wheels over winter (minus rims - re-using mine).

Spying the ultimate carbon seat on E-Bay right now and i'm totally freaking over it! I'm going to miss it. U.S.-only 'cuz' the guy hasn't "opened" it for me yet! [smiley=furious.gif] [smiley=furious.gif] >:(

So I guess that means that having a 14.25" tall BB is .... abnormal? :P [smiley=laughing.gif] [smiley=nod.gif]

 :o OMG! I couldn't even begin to comprehend the fear!!!!!!!!!

But, since you're alright (you ARE alright, aren't you?) can I say it must have been one of those classic cartoon moments when a character pulls the steering wheel of the car and his eyes pop out of his head? [smiley=laughing.gif]

And if you're not alright then i'm sorry for the above comment. :)

Either way i'm glad you're still around to talk about it. Scary indeed!

it was on my roadbike, it was  a carbon stem with alloy inserts for the bolts and i pulled both inserts out of the rest of the stem, luckily i was close to home, it was a simailar situation when i sheared the bottom two cogs off a screw on freewheel, only the bo**ock top tube interface was rather more painful at the time

Frank.,

I can't imagine sitting on a carbon saddle although practically everything else on my Oz is carbon, including the wheels. the only non-carbon structural type things are the fork (had a carbon xllink for a while), and stem. the stem is ti. anyway, how comfortable is that carbon saddle? ita very cool looking, but I have my doubts about comfort, am I wrong about that?

on my road bike, I have a carbon railed fizik aliante which is extremely comfortable (another all-carbon bike, except for the ti stem).

on another note, I just finished buying several carbon booms and masts for windsurfing. can't wait till they start using carbon in the sails like on the sailboat that I steer. I guess I'm just into sports that use carbon equipment. too bad I'm too old and not strong enough anymore to have ski boots with carbon. wish I could afford a carbon car.

carbon, carbon, carbon, too bad saxophones and flutes are not made out of carbon. carbon is the substance of my life.

Weeeeeell....  ::)

I put it on the bike and sat on it. Felt good for just eye-balling the set-up (in JEANS, nonetheless!). BUT, I had to re-adjust the height. So, I loosened the seatpost collar bolt, raised it and ... SNAP!

:o

The stupid bolt broke! [smiley=furious.gif] Cheap steel junk! Yeah, going Ti with it now. [smiley=nod.gif]

The shape is very agreeable. Gotta see about riding, but it does have some give to it. Something I was only so-concerned about. From all the accounts i've heard carbon fiber saddles are generally quite confortable because of the flexibility. Strange as it's usually referred to as being such stiff material. My conclusion is that because the material is so thin it's flexible. It also seems to be different from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some of these things are REALLY stiff!

I have yet to hear about anyone complaining about SI's Flite Evolution's being uncomfortable. When I saw it it was a no-brainer. It would be mine!

I'll have a ride report tomorrow. ;)

DANG YOU AAAANDREW!!!!!! ::)

I checked weight weenies, ooowwwwhhhh! :o

I think you have lost a quarter pound off Frank. [smiley=nod.gif]

Broke the bolt eh! Giggle, Giggle. [smiley=laughing.gif]

Don't forget to rotate your clamp forward so it does not pinch on the slot. It could crack your seatpost otherwise. Or send it to me RIGHT NOW to test for you for free. This could take a few months.

Ya-huh? Rotate the clamp? Oh, you mean to avoid too much stress on the seatpost where the frame/seattube is slotted? [smiley=blankstare.gif]

Hmmm, didn't think of that. Thanks Terry! It'll be done when I get a new seat collar. I can't get that stupid bolt out! [smiley=furious.gif] [smiley=disbelief.gif]

Testing? Ummm, how about I have another slice of Pumpkin pie for ya'. [smiley=laughing.gif] I'm sure it would take a few months - USPS lost two tires I bought off E-Bay! >:(

Yup, half pound with seat and post. Just found an XTR wheelset that should knock off another half-pound at least. Nevermind next year - I might be down into the 27-pound range by my next ride the way things are going! [smiley=laughing.gif]
