Fox [RP3] on an Oz... questions
« on: August 09, 2005, 09:55:24 am »
ok, i have a buddy in a bike shop here who informs me there is a guy they deal with over here in NZ who custom builds fox shocks for their clients. ie, custom i2i, stroke length etc [within reason of course] so i'm going to pursue this and see how it goes. gonna match it with a talas rlc up front.
a couple of questions, the stock standard i2i for the original nr2/4 for the oz was around 210mm yeah? with a stroke of 45mm? it's just that i seem to be getting slightly different specs depending on the source.
also, the grinding of the shock mount on the swingarm for fox shocks - i have read various posts regarding this, but just wanna get some extra confirmation [for peace of mind i guess] that this is safe and causes no grief?

it's a nice sunny day here [christchurch] so i'm heading into the hills for a ride [taking a few hours off work no less]! oh happy day...

I'm sure there are some that I'm missing as well. From what I can tell, those mounts are pretty bomb-proof, even when modified significantly. Already did mine for my Swinger, even though I haven't had a chance to install the shock yet. Looks fine.

If you're going to get an RP3, I wouldn't get one with only 45mm of travel! Go for something that will give you at least 5 inches of travel at the wheel (that would be 51mm). With the platform shocks, you can raise the rear up with more travel, bring it back down with extra sag, and all without losing pedaling efficiency! Not a bad trade.
