What exactly have I got?

Okay, first post with Q's.
I've started a gallery, so you can see what i've got. I'd like to know the following;
1) CrossLink ELT fork - ELT = Elite, yes? I'm told by K2 that I can simply swap in a more traditional telescopic type fork and not screw-up the steering geometry. Is this correct? Not that I want to, but just for knowing it's an option. Also, barring the dimensions, could I also run any of the newer versions of the CrossLink (ie, carbon, etc)?
2) front Noleen damper - I don't know how to tell if it's an NR-1 or NR-2 - what do I look for (maybe you can see it in the pic?)?
3) rear Noleen damper - same as #2, NR-1 or 2? (both front and rear have rebound adjustment dial on bottom of shock)
4) frame type - as far as i've come to know I have a 957/World Class frame type. Is this correct?
5) frame code breakdown - the 957 (provided that IS what I have) is it the "57" that makes the frame type, and the "9" is just a build quality/level?
PATIA to any help you guys (and girls?) can give. I've done some searching, but couldn't find much in the way of specifics that i'm looking for.
(why do I have the feeling i'm about to get ridiculed about my seat post? LOL!)

You've got a K2 3000 which I believe is the same as the original 857/957 frame.
Crosslink Elite - Yes
Yes you can replace it with a telescopic fork and the geometry should stay the same.
Carbon crosslinks are interchangeable but aren't newer, just posher! (I don't think they're even actually much lighter either?)
Shocks - Yes, I think they're NR-2's if they have the rebound adjuster.
857/957 same frame different spec groupset.
I believe the original 957 was polished laquered Aluminium, i.e. no paint.
DUnno if the 857/957 was also called the World Cup Frame, the *56 certainly was.
Enorrrrrmous seatpost! you must have legs about 4 feet long!
Nice Bike, looks in good condition!

frank, my best friend has the same bike. as said before, it's a re-badged 857/957, which is a 1997 model. the last number is the year, i.e. 855 is a 1995,
856 is a 1996. it is a world cup frame, i believe.
the shocks are both nr-2, that have adj. preload[the spring] and adj. rebound[the knurled knob].
the 75, 85, and 95 number in front of the year is a spec. designation. the higher number is a better spec.
the noleens can be rebuilt at the noleen shock service shop. they are listed in the links section. they will re-valved the shocks to your weight and riding style.
