Dennis i paid about 1650$cdn taxs in...including the shock...but my price is a "Bro-deal" from a bike shop i know REAL well... the price on most of the 03 BIGHIT frames are around 1800$cdn.

almost all bike companies include the shock unless speicfically stated as NOT included....in fact very few companies DONT include the shock...

i also convinced a riding buddy to buy a 03 Expert in Small size aswell, adn he's about 5'10" maybe... hes fine on it...

i tink you'd still be able to ride it... but of course your seatpost would proly have to be one of the telescopic versions.....

as far as cost its hard to say cuz alot of my gear is used or transferred from other bikes...but if i added up the entire bike in terms of new gear at full prices it'd easily be over 7$G cdn...

hell my fork alone retial'd at 2750$cdn...

p.s. the 03 Expert BIGHIT isnt avaialble frameonly...luckily i was able to convince my LBS to sell me, and my buddy each one...

they had to tear down the Expert bikes and put the parts onto DH frames....

Amen. Wish I had more time to ride too. I think I've only hit the trails about 5 times since November! That's disgusting.

you guys are soooo right. I almost feel like I've lost track of what's important. Sitting inside during the winter its easy to concentrate on the bike. I guess I have a bit of a thing about equipment, but when I do ride (road ride on warm winter day on crappy, ill-fitting road bike) I remember why the bicycle is so important to me. What a great feeling of freedom! no worries about speed limits!!
read the new issue of Bike. its a great mag, about the ride more than the equipment. the section on the four essential elements of cycling (momentum, slope, balance, and i forget the other one) is nothing short of genius. I am going to copy it and hand it out to my students, its as much about physics as cycling but is all about living well. do yourself a favor and read it.

Sram stuff, disc brakes, carbon bar, Thompson post and stem, Speed V saddle. wheels..that i don't know!, etc, etc, etc and  not be a [smiley=diaper.gif] baby about ridng it like it should be.

the Oz is still a dream to ride, though

the 857 started it all, with many, many memories and dreams coming true on that frame!

with my parts on it, but with these bits replacing some of mine...

i was gonna say ti eggbeaters, but i had a set of ti onza's and the spindles were too soft [wore out quick] so i'll stick with my standard eggs
a set of sid world cup forks [with the carbon crown/steerer]
an xo deraileur
chris king discotech hubs and a set of mavic disc specific rims
other than that, i'm happy with what i've currently got...
