LBS kinda screwed me...
« on: August 24, 2004, 08:18:56 am »
I've been wanting to upgrade my Noleen Mega Air rear shock on my Razorback for a while.  The frame is an '01 so the seat stays must be upgraded by K2 to fit the new shock (Fox Float RL).  In order to do this upgrade I have to remove my Noleen and have a shop ship it to K2.  So I did my part; I took the Mega Air to my LBS and they were supposed to handle the rest.  I did this in late APRIL!!  I followed up on it for a while, then got discouraged and probably made my last call to the shop in mid-July.  I called again today only to be told by one of the employees that he thinks he accidentally threw the shock away!  He said he was cleaning up and found the shock with no note or anything attached to it and thought it was a scrap.  So now I'm waiting to hear from the manager of the shop to see what can be done.  Bummer.  How would you guys handle this?

That sound strange to me. why would an employee through away a shock only because it wasn't marked for repair. I would be suspicious he took it (who knows why).
I would first off talk to one of the managers at the shop. Explain what happened without intimidating them.
I deal with some unruly customer at work and It just aggravates me when they intimidate and threaten. Just tell them strait out that it would be nice if you could be compensated.

I'd keep K2 in the loop.  Email or call them and ask them what to do.  Document the dates and who and what LBS you dealth with.

I hate to say this but some LBS blames the manufacturer for big delays when the LBS haven't done Jack Sh*t.   Contacting the manufacturer in  my case helped me pressure the LBS to get off his ass.  I really don't like doing this, but waiting for months is really obscene.
