Girvin Vector II- questions maybe for sale
« on: June 01, 2004, 04:46:10 am »
Hey guys,
I replaced my urethane bushings at the end of last year with all applicable seals and bushings for the linkages, but I was just thinking how this fork compares to current forks of today? I always liked the fork and on my other bike I ride a Fox Float 100RL, which is an awesome ride too.

Is it worth the upgrade to another fork in the 80/100 mm range?  The Girvin is on my back up bike/hardtail and I am thinking of going with another fork like a Fox Forx Vannilla 100R.

Does anybody know what an aluminum legged vector II weighs? Also, how much stiffer is a vector II over a standard stanchioned fork of today?

If anybody is interested in buying this shock and makes a reasonable offer I would be willing to sell it.  It is in great shape with all new bushings and elastomers.
Thanks for your input,
Jason

the vector is pretty stiff torsionally and the mcu shockrd versions are pretty light too. However this fork was designrd in 1994 or so..it has very little travel and the urethane shocks have a pretty harsh action. If you still run the original blexk seals they also have a bit of stiction. The best thing about a modern fork is you will get disc mounts for free!.Having said that.......heresy!!!!!!!
