floating rear brake

I was wondering if anyone has a floating rear disc brake on their K2. It is supposed to keep the rear suspension more active when braking and i would assume this will be of greatest benefit on a single pivot design. Have you noticed how cushy the bike feels when bombing downhill without using the brake!

the theory is that it is not worth the trouble.I would think that it would be quite easy to acheive with a rear disc.........

Gordo beat me  to it, those are the guys. However, you have to be willing to shell out a lot more than for the Hammerhead. There are two options: one that connects to the Brake Boss which is just another option for disk brake w/ out drilling the left dropout, or the actual floating design, which would attach to the upper shock mount or clamp to the seatpost or seat-tube. Not sure what he means by special clamp or if he realized that the Oz seatube isnt a tube, but  im sure the shock mount is the preferred spot anyway.

Sorry for the delay responding, with Interbike coming up, it's getting a little crazy.







For your k2, our disc adaptor will let you use a disc on your bike, with the attachment to the v-brake boss. The price is $149.00, but as you say, it won't isolate the brake force from the suspension. For that you need the floating brake, which ids a bit more expensive at $295.00. This would attach to the shock bolt using a longer bolt, or to the seat tube using a special clamp we make.

I heard from a friend that the Brake Therapy would work for my K2 OZm frame, which is the same as a Proflex 4000/5000 or K2 EVO (In swingarm and geometry). I have recently dumped the Noleen front end and gone with  FOX Vanilla so Im looking to go disc now. I am guessing that the arm would connect from the bracket for the rear hub/caliper up to my left side mount for the rear shock. How does my upper shock bolt work then ... I guess a longer bolt would support the Thearapy arm. Just wondering if youve sold any kits to someone with my frame or one of the other frames mentioned above, and if they were successful. I guess the other way to do it would be connecting the the brake boss but that doesnt isolate the braking force as explained on your page.
