My 856 Back to Life!!!

I finally got my 856 built up again.  I have a couple of frame rebuild kits and 4 fork rebuild kits now so that should last a while.  8-)

Many thanks to Scott for selling me the Crosslink and Dennis for the Genesis for the Crosslink (Not installed yet because it is still in transit).     [smiley=beer.gif]

Your frame is 18"?  Is this measured from the center of the BB to the very top of the seat tube, or to the center of the top tube?  

The reason I ask is that my frame is 18" from the center of the BB to the very top of the seat tube.  But my shock mount hole is much higher up on the frame mount plate.  In fact, it is partially embedded into the top tube.  I would like to get a Risse shock, but from the looks of the one you have, it would not fit as the body of the shock would interfere with the shock mounting plate on the frame.  

Anyone have input on this?

Sounds like you have a 14" frame.  I am quite sure I have an 18" frame (I also have a 19" 955 frame but it is not built up).

I have seen a 14" frame with a Genesis rear shock on ebay so I know it is possible for the shock to fit.  You may want to email Risse to find out if you need a soecific type of shock for your frame.  I saved the ebay pictures because I was wondering the same thing myself.  I will post the pics in my gallery for you.

Hmmmm....now I'm really puzzled.  [smiley=worry.gif]  

My measurement from the center of the BB to the very top of the seat post tube is 18".  From the center of the BB to the center of the top tube is about 16".  If my frame is a small (which I believe it might be), then where is the 14" measurement taken from?

My old 856 I've had from new is labelled on the frame as an 18"(45.7cm) frame, the measurement from centre of b/b to top of seat tube is 20",and centre of b/b to centre of top strut eye 15 1/4" the only 18" measurement I can find is from centre to centre of the strut eyes ??,Simon.

Thanks for your help, tmaybee.  

None of the dimensions shown on the diagram equate to 14" on the small frame.  Interesting!  I guess it is just a reference measurement for comparison to other frames.   :-/

the measurements of frame size in inches is used as a guide only to compare the Pro~Flex way of sizing frames.

small ~ 14
med ~ 16
large ~ 18
waybig ~ 20

if your shock is attached to the top tube it's a SMALL which would be similar to  14" frame of other brands
