ProFlex 955 ready to roll!

Hi all, just built up my ProFlex 955 frame (that I bought new in '95). The frame was hanging in the garage for the past 10(?) years. I sold the Girvin fork a while back, but just couldn't part with the frame. I put a Risse Genesis on it back in '98. But all I can remember is that is wasn't cushy enough for me, so the bike got stripped and hanged. Anyhow, this past weekend, I put "modern" components on it: Fox TALAS (set to 80mm), front hydraulic disc, rear V brake, Shimano XT/LX 9-speed drivetrain with SLX RD (love the shadow design). Looks really cool; I'll take some pix.

I rode it around the driveway/steps. It didn't fall apart and shock holds air! So I'll take it out to Santa Teresa County Park, where there are some good technical trails (climbs, descents and rocks!) and see how it feels. Hope it's good so I don't need to spend more $$$ and get a new XC frame. Has anyone compared their 955 to modern XC bikes like Scalpels, Epics, Sparks, etc?

I'm also interested in the geometry of the 955 (can't seem to find it on the Web; mine's a large). And what's the main difference of the later years swing arm design where it mounts to the downtube vs the seattube on the 955?

From what I know of the 955 it is the World Cup Design and Polished(I like shiny bikes).

I am an x57 and evo fan, but many peeps like the World cup design better. You can't really get such a solid build that light these days.

I can tell you that my bikes rival any of the modern stuff out there, and a lot more fun too.

shovelon can add a rear disc mounting point to that swingarm if you want.  He did mine and it looks and works great; no more mismatched brake performance between front and rear.
