Axle to crown length on crosslinks?
« on: May 18, 2011, 05:29:06 am »
Hi there,

I'm considering picking up a 957 frame.
Thing is, I know that these frames were specced with crosslinks (and thus have around 3+ inches of travel), and I have a set of vector2's to put on it.
I'm concerned about axle to crown length differences as I do not want to steepen the head tube anymore than it already is.

Can anyone confirm for me the a2c numbers on a crosslink with nr2 shock?  Or better yet, confirm if there are any length differences between a vector and a crosslink fork?  Would be much appreciated :)

I don't have those measurements, but the vector should work fine if you have it. I actually liked my vector better than the crosslink.

But I lilke slider forks better than either.

Just Measured:

Vector II - a2c = 41cm
X-Link - a2c = 43cm

Interestingly enough both my XP-X (x56 style bike) and my 857 have a head tube angle of 71 deg according to the specs that I have to hand.

and I put a set of Fournales on my XP-X and they have an a2c = 44cm , so I guess I've slackened the head angle?

Feels great though!

Thank you!

Great info!  2cm gives a lot to think about.
That will (in my scenario) steepen the head angle a reasonable amount (+.5 deg i believe!)
