Smartshock automatically selecting "Firm"

Hi,

I've got a '98 5000 with smartshocks front and rear (carbon crosslink on the front). The rear smartshock automatically goes to the "Firm" setting when turned on. Has anyone else seen this and is there a fix? I'm willing to open it up and work on the electronics, just looking for some experience if there's any out there.
