rebuild kit for 1998 noleen stubby lt.
« on: November 10, 2008, 07:30:12 pm »
anyone know where i can pick up a set of elastomers to rebuild my stubby lt fork on my 1998 beast.  i have been toying with buying a new shock but can't seem to find one that grabs me other than the recon by rock shocks so i thought i would look into rebuilding mine.

thanks.

Before I sold my Beast with a Chubby, I was told that Rockshox elastomers may fit. From what I remember, the elastomers had a washer that plugged into them. I dont see why other than convenience. They coupled with a steel spring also.

Mountain speed springs made a Coil spring conversion kit that made the fork more lively. The damping characteritics were still provided by the air dampers which worked amazing. I figured when the elastomers went, I might just replacethat section with a coil spring.

If you have not done a regrease, the results just may be all you need.

haven't tried that.   i bought the bike about 8 months ago and have ridden it more since then than my friend who owned it did the entire 10 years and have noticed that lately they have became very soft for lack of a better word.  am considering replacing with a rockshok recon.  just want to look at all options before i make a change.

thanks
