Routing cables

To those that know what I did to the frame I made, this wont shock you much more than it did when I last wrote and mentioned that I was thinking of cutting out the strut from the headstock to the BB.
Well I did and saved just over a 1lb in weight, then I routed the cables through the frame along with the rear brake pipe.
But I always thought this to be a messy affair.
And yesterday sitting on the stoop and removing the old lacquer I was contemplating another way to route the cables.
I wanted a straight run for the cable gear outers to cut down on water ingress.
And the only idea I can come up with is to replace the strut.
But because I know that it is not needed as a structural member I am thinking of fabricating a beam using only a couple layers of carbon.
The form I will shape out of high density foam, often used in the making of surf boards as you can shape this with a wire brush.
But instead of making another oval beam I am contemplating putting a shallow grouve on the right side so that the cables and brake pipe are recessed out of the way of the riders knees.
Also I am going to have the seat post sleeve re made with a raised seam to locate into the frame this should put a stop to the seat post sleeve rotating in the frame.
A common pain when it comes loose from the epoxy bonding whilst riding.
Can anyone tell me on the OZM frame to swinger, have any of you managed to replace the shock and use a Fox shock ?
What were the results you had ?
And what shock did you use ?

i was catching that drift - cut it out to lose a pound then replace it with something lighter?
before i did that, i'd quit eating pizza for a couple of weeks and lose the pound myself

I have a Fox Vanilla RC 105, 7.875x2.25, on my Oz. A tad shorter than the stock 8 inch, but no problems and it fits without any frame modifications. A bit more travel than the stock shock as well. It matches up well with my 4 inch travel fork. Only 9500+ miles on it.
