Beast World Cup Bottom Bracket
« on: July 14, 2008, 06:26:39 pm »
I just noticed my bottom bracket making a ton of noise really close to bearings going bad. Does anyone know what size they are? Are they something that I can still find? Standard size maybe?

Yup, that's an x56 "World Cup Frame" based Beast from 1996.

68x110 as Kiwi says.

I've got a 68x113 in my XP-X (x56) and it makes minimal difference. (just need to adjust the derailleur)

Thanks for the compliments on the Beast. Believe it or not I paid $150 for it about 1yr ago. Elastomers were shot and I was lucky enough to find NIB at a local shop who used to be a ProFlex dealer. They had 4 brand new ODS shocks front and rear with elsotmers.  :o  Sadly those pooped out the 1st summer it reached 105*f in my garage. :-\ Oh and it had the original gum wall tires on it when I got it. 8)

I was actually considering selling it. It's just too nice to get rid of. I just purchased some Hayes 9s for it and will be selling the Maguras on it by next week.]

Thanks for the HELP on the bottom bracket. I'll be replacing that this week-end.

So I was able to find the bottom bracket I needed, but it turns out I didn't need it. ::) The cap screw that hold the bushing in the swing arm mounts came loose. So I tore it down, cleaned and lubed it with high pressure grease. No more squeeks from my Beast. 8)

Sure will! I just machined some brackets to put Disc brakes on. I'm pleased with the front, the rear is bulky but I made it work. ;) I'll take it out tomorrow and snap some current pics.

Oh yeah Red lever Magura Hydro brake set for sale!
