grrrr. new chain issue

I just put a SRAM PC-68 chain on and when I backpedal it falls off the front chainring. The chain is much stiffer side to side than the Shimano chain it replaced, even when new. I tweaked my derailleur arm to aim it more to the outside, but no joy. Any thoughts?

how much wear on the drivetrain?

sometimes the new chians take a few rides to settle down

i am with carbon.....if the chain is stiff then backpedaling will derail it instantly cause it wont bend around the cluster so it backs up and jumps of the front....it doesnt jump off the other way because you are pulling it round....give it a few rides.....why are you backpedalling anyway,re positioning pedals for trials type stuff,or habit.....

I've just put a new KMC X8.92 chain on my 4000se after the old SRAM chain wearing out and breaking (and taking out the mech with it - see other thread!)
and I'm smugly glad to say it's a smashing chain so far, limited side to side flex and nice and smooth changing, but I think that there is a bit of wear on the chainwheels and cassette so maybe they need replacing as well!

How well did you degrease the chain be for installing and applying new lube?

It has about 60 miles on it now and it is getting slightly better. I tend to back pedal when coming up to big logs and rocks so as to position the pedals for the jump over. I guess it will wear in, but it sure is a pain on a technical climb. the rest of the drivetrain is in good shape with new chainrings on the front and a recent cassette.
I just have never had this problem with Shimano.
