Hello,

I happened across this site while searching the internet for replacement elastomers or springs I could use in place of them for my '96 Pro-flex Beast I just pulled out of storage.

The elastomers that are on there now are totally shot, they're pretty much solidified.

Anyway, I haven't been having much luck finding them online. Could anyone show me where I could find some elastomers or replacement springs that would work on my Beast?

Elastomers: try Ironhorse, or user SLIM here, or www.rapiddescentscotland.co.uk (you can also get springs at this site)

Thanks for the reply.

I did find the Rapid Descent site a bit earlier, however when I tried to find pricing and purchase information on the COR springs, I couldn't on their site. I had figured they no longer manufactured them. Maybe I'm just missing something, though. I have contacted them via e-mail.

Thanks again for the reply, and I hope I can get back on my Beast sometime soon.

They are all out of COR springs, so Callum disabled the ordering page.

The elastomers are available. That would get you going again in the short term.

Just in case anyone was wondering... I got some e-mails back today.

COR springs are out, I'm not sure if/when they'll be back.

Ironhorse no longer has any elastomers, and they will not be getting any back.

I'm not sure which elastomers are for my bike on Rapid Descent, as they say on their products page "For 1996 Animal/Beast use COR springs." Which I guess means I'm SOL for elastomers from there.

Only positive response I've gotten so far is from Risse Racing, but it's gonna cost $416 plus shipping for a set of Genesis shocks from them, so it looks like I'm gonna have to wait a while to get my Beast back on the trail.

Well you don't need a set of Risse shocks for the rear. It is only one shock. The price is $198 U.S. for a genesis. And maybe $30 max to ship outside of U.S.

I am surprised that Callum does not have sponges for the ODS. I thought I saw them.

Anyhow, you could buy up some rubber grommets from the hardware store and get by.

Spend the money on the COR's when they're back in stock, much better long term solution than replacing MCU's.

From recollection they're £60 a pair I think.

You need Callum to respond, he owns RDI. Look for his previous posts.

It'll be worth the wait............he's probably off rounding up a few sheep to bring back to his wee croft in Scotland............<grin>

I've got a Speedspring conversion (now discontinued) on the ODS's on my XP-X (856) and they've been faultless for 9 years!

Rapid descent website says expect springs back on sale about 23rd May - so should be imminent

Just in case anyone was wondering, I went the COR route. Just got them today and installed them.

Here's my '96 Proflex Beast, had her since '96... She cleaned up real nice, now just gotta get her nice and dirty again.

Added the red Serfas saddle, WTB Kevlar Velociraptor tires and Ritchey Ti Clipless pedals, along with the COR springs now, aftermarket.
