Info on XP8 please anyone
«

Hi
Have just taken possession of a beaut XP8 won on ebay and it goes like a dream. Totally plush ride compared to my 753.
Can anyone please tell me the background to the XP8, when introduced, highly rated or not, etc, as I can't find anything out about the bike other than it seems to be based on the 955. Is that correct?
Thanks, from confused old git

I've got one. I love it. There have been some brochures available recently on this site on the X-works bikes which should fill you in (
http://idriders.com/cgi-bin/YaBB_K2/YaBB.pl?board=news;action=display;num=1176398857
), however I have a copy if you want to PM me your email address I'll email it to you.
As far as I know they were a limited range based on the 856 for the UK only (may be wrong on that). There was an XP6, XP8 and XPX. I'm sure others here can fill you in more.
Congrats anyway - welcome to the club!
Oh, and I've got my 753 up and running now!

Orange is right, it's a special 856 probably only sold in the UK.
I've got an XP-X, here's mine when it was brand new:
see my other ramblings on the subject for more info..........

After about six hours of riding over the weekend on the new scoot I've decided : I love this bike! Really comfortable, very smooth ride and so easy to control but light and very responsive. I presume Rapid Descent supply good replacement rear springs if needed in future?

Great! Glad you're enjoying it! Yes RDI do spring conversions for it, have you got MCU's on it atm?
If so, I'd definitely recommend converting to springs, I've got Speedsprings on mine (no longer available) and it's much better than the MCU's.
If you're in the UK, I've got a spare Pivot maintenance kit for an 856 /XP-x bike if you want a safety net spare!

Hi Col
Thanks for your reply - the bike came with a rear upgrade done by the previous owner. He ditched the elastomers and fitted a Girvin GDT coil spring unit with adjustable rebound.
That was fitted some years ago, and I will need to change it at some point, but the unit seems ok at present.
Of course I've nothing to compare it to, other than the elastomer on my 753.
Please email me separately and I will arrange the purchase of the Pivot maintenance kit from you:

Cheers
