Spin 26 Tri-Spokes

OK,
 I know a-lot of people hate these - and alot of them love them. I've had a perfect set of these sitting up on a shelf for over 3 years now - I think it's time for me to dust off the old 2-axis cnc and see what can be done to these wheels (or modded nut) to make them Disc ready. I've seen 2 ways to do this now - neither way, have I been able to get ANY info on what company "did" the adapters that replaced the large nuts on these wheels w/ disc adapters, or, the hub modded style (cuts into the hub and uses set screws to affix the adapter).
 Before I try and cnc up a screw on adapter for these wheels, does ANYBODY on here have a set of Spins that have the disc option "mod", or know of any info on this?
 Thanks for any input. Or, just a "I hate those..." type of post .
 BTW, I like my Spins - these ones have never seen the off-road ,  YET!!!! But they WILL this year .

Don't have 'em, but would REALLY like to find a pair.

I did modify a set of five spoke BMX wheels for disc brakes. (Check out my chopper in the gallery.) Using a combination of set screws, friction fit, and good old JB Weld, I was able to affix a pre-drilled and threaded disc adapterto the hub.

Pretty cool, but I won't be downhilling on them...

Yeah, I remember looking at that a while ago - Cool works!
 I like the Spins myself - and I haven't had a single problem w/ them. i just stuck them up after about 500 road miles on them because the company went out of business at that time and I wanted to preserve them from the rim brake style of braking. I may throw them on one of my Oz bikes and ride them w/ my Hyd Mag. brakes - just not for too long. I just thought I would see if anyone else on here had already travel'd down this road yet so I could take a short cut .

Well, I decided to just run the unmodded Spins with a set of my HS11 Hyd rim binders. It STILL stops on a dime - even w/out the boosters .

Those Spins are sweet,  I just sold my pair after a short visual love affair with them.  I just couldn't get used to the jackhammering effect on my suspension.  They didn't inspire confidence.  Didn't feel it on the trail, but on the road...endless stutter bumps.  Maybe I needed to lay off the pizza and beer in order to ride them (185lbs.)
    Do you feel any vibration with those?  I bought a pair of Aerospokes to replace them;  smoother but HEAVIER.
They are sweet but the Spins just fit the oz frame sooo well.

  Thank you, they haven't seen much use. They've been sitting up on the shelf for quite a while. I figure what the H3LL - I may as well just use them. I'm running these tubeless, although these tires are NOT the tubeless type - but work d@mn well holding air (w/ just a lil sealent brushed inside). I have not noticed any jackhammer pattern as of yet, but they haven't seen any REAL air yet either . I know what you're saying though. I rode a set a year ago that were mounted to a Trek "y" and they REALLY hammer'd on the pavement. I looked at a set of Aerospokes myself -  I like those too! They have a great feel off and on road.
  I'm running titanium skewers - still up in the air on if I trust those with these carbon wheels. We'll see . As for the beer and pizza, knaw - just get lighter parts for the ride,  that's what I do  [smiley=laughing.gif]. I too am 185, works for me hehe.  Take care Carbonman1!
