Rear replacement shock for Proflex 857

risses web site has some good info,and i agree about there email,i have twice tried to get the low down on the difference between the x56 shock which requires the freedom adapter and the x57 shock which actually has the tapered end,so for my moey the x57 shock should bolt up the the x56....bu t have never found out id f this is actually the case!

This may sound stupid, but doesn't the Risse shock come with the same double eyelet setup most shocks do?  I have an 856, and I can't figure out the bottom of the Risse (or any other newer rear shock) will fit into the swingarm.

Risse makes rear shocks that have the tapered end that will fit your 857.

What you have to watch for is any small size x57 that has the skinny end in the frame. There just is'nt any room for anything other than the nospleen or ods shock.

Otherwise you could use a shorter aftermarket shock and fab up an adapter like many of us have done.

Hmmm, now I'm a little confused!  

Do Risse make an adapter that attach to any of their genesis/astro shocks that will enable these to be connected to our pro-flex 857's; or do we have to buy a specifically made (pro-flex 857 rear) shock from them?  

To clarrify  are the genesis/astro shocks all the same (i.e. same length/stroke/shaft) but simply come with differnt end adapters that attach to the shaft, or is the shaft made specific for each model of pro-flex?

Risse makes a special shock for Proflex. It fits right on the strut with no mods.

Same with the crosslink.

I checked with Risse on any other distributers. They don't have any distributers in either Uk or Aus.

I did get an R.A. # right away from Robert at Risse.
They seem to want to keep working on my Genisis to suit my comfort. That is nice.

the risse is built to fit the world cup strut in three different verions but all have a threaded end to accept the bolt from the strut.The x55 version has a flat end to go onto the flat x55 strut.The x56 is  the same shock i think but need s the freedom plate adapter to overcome the lack of a flat end to the strut,and the x57 shock has a tapered end just like the noleens.

 :oWell I bought the astro-5 having an 855 but in removing the old 1 to install the astro I see that the previous owner has changed the strut to the tapered cone type I believe found on the x57 "correct me if I'm wrong" now saying all that what can I do to use what I have [smiley=diaper.gif]

Wow, what a calamity!

Call Risse and explain what happened. I think that you may be able to swap it. Unless someone has the old style strut which they may want to swap with you, that may be your only hope.

Can you post a picture of your old shock end?
