Since you have the Avids with the spherical washers, there is an adjustment that you can make.  I have done this myself.  Place a wide flat file on a stable surface (workbench or the ground.)  Take the black Avid adapter that is to be screwed into the Hammerhead, find the flat surfaces that the spherical washer system mates to, remove 1 mm or so by bearing these surfaces on the file and drawing against the grain of the file.  A few drops of thread cutting oil on the file will help alot.  The nice thing about the Avid system is that these surfaces do not have to be perfectly perpendicular to the IS mounting surface.  Just keep the surfaces reasonably flat and you'll be fine.

I don't have a stock K2 adapter to compare it to, but I think hammer's adapter rocks. I run my bike hard, to the point of trashing rear hub bearings, and have never had to do more than slight adjustments, even through 4 different kinds of rear brakes.

I totally agree.  This adaptor is the coolest thing since sliced bread.  I was a little leary at first about drilling out my swingarm, but looking at the quality of the materials, I've had no regrets.

Mine was for a 98 Animal so the frame was pre drilled and tapped. Ten minutes from V's to Disks.....
