Sounds like you've done everything correctly,
according to my tech force upgrade instruction
like you say 44mm measured from the top piston removed (10.4cc) front
Rear 53mm (12.4cc),
is the swishing noise when you cycle the damper when removed from the bike
or with it fitted whilst riding
if its when removed then thats okay, thats how mine sounded when I changed the damping fluid.

I got the swishing noise too - I assumed it was bubbles of air in the oli as it froths up.

simon
its with it off the bike
cycled the piston and it works fine
little slow on the out stroke and doesn`t return all the way out , but no spring on , so
when the piston is pulled all the way out ,
and i gave it a shake , the oil gave a swishing sound
so i thought i had`nt put enough in
so it must be ok then
thanks for the answers guys
UPDATE = BACK ON , WORKS FINE !!!!!

Hi,
I've been planning on doing the Oil change modification for years..............and keep putting it off ................How did yours go?
Did you do front and back ODS shocks?
What weight oil did you use?
Same weight front and back?
What did you use to unscrew the end cap? I've read you need a "pin spanner" but I'm not sure what that is...........? Is it something that fits in the two little recess holes in the end?
Thanks
Col.

i did mine a little different from the description on rds
first YES you need a pin spanner, but mine was loose enough , so i didn`t need one
once thats off its easy enough ,
if you replace all the elastomers ( mine are now rocks by the way ) and the spacers / cups back on in the order they came off in , except for the bottom one ,then put the piece you need the pin spanner for on at the end with the bottom cup,
you should then have just enough room for the large nut
and just keep on tightening it until it pulls all the internals out
so you have
black adjuster ( with ridges )
cup ( bell shaped / bronze )
1 elastomer
black spacer
2 elastomer
silver shock cup ( pin spanner )
bottom cup
large nut ( off bottom of plunger rod )
i used a 7.5 wt ( cos im light , recomends 10 /12 )

I'm 13 stone (84kg) and used 10 wt on the Vectors and I think 20wt on the rear ODS (though may have been 10wt). Front spring is 150lbs and rear is 350lbs. Suits me fine this way.
Be brave go for it - if I can do it anybody can!!
