Last of the EVO's - on sale!
« on: May 02, 2003, 11:19:37 am »
Supergo is currently clearing out its stock of Bumpy Monkeys and Disco Monkeys from 2002, the last year with the EVO style frame (for now). Just in case anybody is interested. The prices aren't bad for new bikes... ($899 and $1099 respectively).
K2 5000 Large w/Avid discs, Bontrager Race Disc Modified wheels, Manitou Minute, Swinger 3-way
K2 5000 Med ("wife's") w/Avid V's, Mavic CrossLink wheels, Manitou X-vert, Risse Astro-5

Yeah, I was at Supergo Santa Monica last week. Many people testing the launch models. Look pretty clean. Those are priced to sell. The Disco Monkey at 1100.00, should be around 900.00. Those Disco's have a good spec, but still a 2002 model should be under a grand. [smiley=disbelief.gif] Those frames for 350.00 were a good deal at Ediscount. [smiley=nod.gif]

They should be priced to sell. The Launch was a big K2 mistake. Why build a "free-ride strong" bike with only XC travel? 3-4 inches ought to weigh closer to 25 lbs than 35 lbs! I agree that the Disco's should be under a grand, but I paid more than that when I built up my 5000 3 years ago (got the frame for $399 from Supergo). Slightly nicer build, but it was kind of painful when I bought my wife's nearly identical bike on ebay in perfect condition for $450... :o I guess it could be worse. Some people actually paid retail for EVOs. I think my father in law paid $2400 for his 5000 back in '98!

I did not check the specs yet but reckon 1100 is a good price if components are even half decent. I ended up spending around 1200 to build up my Evo [399 from supergo]. I saw a demo monkey on ebay one month ago, well spec'd and my size, like new, that went for 550, that was a deal but I already got one !
