Hey Cindy...

Ebay is a great place to get these forks, and most of the time they are under $40.

Hi, Cindy.
Jinder is right check on e-bay. There are several listed right now. Though it is hard to find the carbon model you can get the Noleen ELT or EXP for around $50.00 US. The seller is E-Discount. I have bought two from him in the past without a mark or blemish to be found on them. They are practically NEW. However be careful to buy the right size. They come in long and regular The regular size fits most frames which is probably what you need. Rarely do bikes need the extra length with the tall. And if you can’t find one then I could see what I can spring up. (Pun not intended).

HAHA! Hello and Welcome, Cindy!

I JUST saw your ad on PinkBike last night (I believe that's you). It might prove usefull for yourself (and others) to find out what size you need. Yes, they come in different sizes. Measure your bike's headtube height and use that for your reference.

Here's a link to help you understand (or at the very lest, not confuse you).

If I find anything i'll let you know.

Hi Cindy,

I just bought a new Noleen Crosslink from eDiscountBike.com. The total for it with shipping was $115. They have a number of Crosslink forks available, only one is suitable for frame with short (<125mm) headtubes. This seems to be the critical measurement.

Of course, with a little work, you can get one of the tall forks to fit a shorter headtube. Check out Natas' gallery for a way around this. His bike is smokin'! I plan on usng his mod to fit a tall fork to my GT. Once I install it, I'll post a few pix on my .Mac homepage.

Glad to hear it Cindy! If you're close to Toronto and have any problems then give me a shout.

Or if you just want to get together and ride then give me a shout, too.

Good luck with it and Happy Trails!

What is the travel adjuster? Why did you find that necessary?

I think its a device to enable old canti brake levers to
operate V type brakes,(I could be wrong though).

I used to have some of those power grips, long long time ago, they were good though.

You're right, Simon. The travel adjuster takes up some slack in the cable and puts a little more force on the brakes. I'm running a set of older 7-speed RapidFire shifter/braker levers that were originally for a cantilever set-up. I had to use a v-brake since the cantilevers wouldn't work. The v-brake stops great with this set up. I can do stoppies and really get the shock to compress.

To overcome the length of the frame's headtube, I used 75mm of spacers. With a little help from my LBS, I have a decent setup that has me back on the trails after a number of years. I guess part of the fun for me has been tinkering with the various components. I cleaned the drivetrain and saw that the middle ring was toast. Ended up with a new Deore crankset via eBay. I found a decent set of lighter wheels on eBay as well and they have also made this bike more fun.

The hardest part is now that it's winter, the only free-time for riding is after dark during the week. So I'm trying to squeeze in rides on the weekends.
