fitting a Crosslink fork

I have a mid-90s GT Avalance that I want to upgrade with a Crosslink fork. eDiscountBike has several forks that fit the bill, but the one I like best is for a "tall" frame. I measured the GT and learned that the frame has a 112mm head tube that will fit a 1-1/8" steerer tube.

Is there any way to fit a tall fork to a normal frame? Should I just go with a standard fork and forget about the other one? I don't mind setting up a hack to get the black fork to work, I just need to make sure it's safe.

And why do you want to have a tall one?

There is no reason to take a tall one if your frame is normal. You don't have more travel with a tall one!
The only thing is: Your Bar comes higher. And that's a disadvantage.

So, if your frame is normal take a fork for normals. that's what those forks are made for.

Thanks for the advice. The tall one I like looks better with the aluminum frame of the GT. The standard forks are white, with lesser Noleen NR-1 shocks. I suppose they could swap out one of the NR-1s for a NR-2. I can get used to the white forks, I guess I like the black ones since the bike has always had a black fork.
