I seem to remember just pitching this myself, not to long ago. after some research this is what I have found :
Only one comnpany (so far) makes a 8.5 i2i stable platform AIR shock. That is a Swinger 4 way air.   GET THIS !! they also make an 8.25 i2i, just for us ???
depends on your fork height and travel, which I am sure you already know the comparisons.
The cheapest I have found this shock is 409.99 brand new without a bushing kit. Which you could make for real cheap if you have access to a lathe. Also  I could'nt find a real weight for the 8.5 i2i, but I did find the weight of a swinger 4 way 8.0 i2i , listed as 465 grams, so the  8.5 has to be heavier. Over a pound for an air shock that will give you about 6 inches of travel, due to its 2.75 inch stroke. Is the weight worth the travel increase? your choice...

Thats it !!!, maybe Risse will come out with stable technology of their own?

OR: I really like shovelon's adapter (lengthener) too retrofit a 7.5 i2i. Much more options for the shock, weight will be around half pound or less, yeilding 5 inches of travel ....

Basically the question for me is; is the extra weight of the swinger 4 way, or any coil shock, with an extra inch of travel , compared to the 7.5 and 5 in. of travel, worth it?  depends on how much weight  you mind pedalling around with ?
If there are any other Air 8.5 i2i stable's out there PLEASE, lemmie know.... [smiley=nod.gif]
As for myself? I will be scooping for a FOX rp3 7.5 i2i, and will make an adapter, well, thats todays' idea, anyway  !! ;D

I really would NOT go with the Fox, but maybe the RP3 had a better air valve position than the Float RL I have.

not only does manitou make the swinger 4 way in 8.25i2i, but I have also seen a swinger 3 way in 8.25i2i, a bit lighter and less expensive than the 4 way.

If anybody wants a 5th Element Air 7.5" I2I, I've got one coming on Monday.  I also have a Romic Twin tube coming that day as well, which is why the 5th Element will be up for grabs.  I'll let the 5th Element go to one of my K2 bretheren for cheap - or possible trade for a 100mm fork?  Maybe I should start a new thread on this.....
