Not quite finished,still need the correct size b/b and a front mech (hence the dangling cable) but hey its nearly there,
But can I still call it a Proflex,I'm thinking 856 series5,as its come after the 855 and 3 official 856 variations here in the UK,
anyway this is it,not perfect (everything has been made at home using hand tools)but its nice to of resurrected a well beat up 856 frameset,wish I could of got a professional polish but hey funds are tight,note running full length silver shifter cables (sealed) supplied by sprucey (www.ukbikestore.co.uk),also running the rear brake hose through the s/arm (pic attached) all holes fully tapered (no sharp edges),also converted main s/arm pivot onto 4 sealed precision bearings,luckly the old frame came with a RaceFace sealed headset,cleaned off the faded anodizing and polished it up,
the suspension appears very plush (probabaly too PLUSH) may have to consider lengthening the strut and moving it back,maybe as far as the origional position,typical [smiley=laughing.gif] will sacrifice some travel though,this has all come about due to me having to lengthen the swinglinks for shock clearance,anyway I'll try it first,may be fine for me as I'm a lightish weight 11 1/2 stone (161 Lbs) [smiley=laughing.gif],anyway what do you think,here's some pic's,

Once again a work of art. I like the Hydro line though the swingarm like carbons. I think you art right, at least 1 or 2 inches back for the strut may work better for you. But is looks awesome as it is.

ProFlex? Nope. You've heard it before - get some custom stickers..... "Simonize". Add them to the ProFlex sticker package, like an upgrade thing.

You know, like BETD and Specialized.

That is a thing of beauty. The workmanship and design is quite elegant. And who does that welding? Very nice indeed.

Glad to see you were able to use the fork links for that touch of heritage.

When (if) you decide to move the strut further back, maybe you could put a multi-position rail on the swingarm?

You've built a very valuable bike - by 2005 standards. And there's little in life more satisfying than making something deemed "worn out" better than new.

Will,multi-position I think I'll look into it  [smiley=nod.gif],unfortunatly those links aren't from the vectors (they worked out to be to short) but the links are some I made from T6 based on the vector links but a bit longer to give shock clearance at full compression.

Kiwi,Formula B4's with goodridge hoses,Mega-air 100mm travel forks,lower legs polished and lacquered,infact nearly all components transfered over from my Carbon 4500.

that looks really nice ive always liked proflex in `naked` ive been tempted to do mine in the past and i think looking at yours has finally persuaded me to do it. one last thing i was looking at the side on pics and was wondering about tyre clearance but on the 2nd last pic it seems like i was totally wrong, congrats on an excellent looking bike.

Thanks for the reminder, Simon. I forgot how beautiful polished AL looks. It seems that all the manufacturers need to paint their bikes nowadays. Pity, really. Almost make syou wonder if they're hiding something.

Also, I really need to focus on your approach to a VERY simple coulour scheme. Keeping it to a few simple, but very strategically (?) located pieces/positions ...... it brings a tear to my eye.

My next K2 project will absolutely be a polished frame. Albeit, i'll probably go overboard with the anodized aluminum bits. I love that stuff! [smiley=laughing.gif]
